WorldGBC Global Awards

Each year WorldGBC presents two major awards recognising the contributions of individuals to the global green building movement: the WorldGBC Chairman’s Award and the David Gottfried Award.

The Chairman's Award is given to individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the global green building movement, while the David Gottfried Award is presented to individuals whose contribution to the global green building movement has been shown to be unique, innovative and entrepreneurial. David Gottfried was an entrepreneur who originally helped to found the World Green Building Council and the US Green Building Council.

These Awards are presented at the WorldGBC Congress.

The winners of the Chairman’s Award and the David Gottfried Award were announced at a ceremony held in the Golden Hall of Stockholm City Hall, the venue of the annual Nobel Prize banquet, as part of the WorldGBC Congress, Sweden, in October 2016.

Rick Fedrizzi, the outgoing CEO of the US Green Building Council and incoming CEO of The International WELL Building Institute, received the WorldGBC Chairman’s Award, together with Mayor Gregor Robertson and Deputy Mayor Andrea Reimer of the City of Vancouver.
