Site Tour: CSR House
The brief for CSR House was to design and build an attractive 8 star energy efficient home as inexpensively as possible, and overcome the perception that an energy efficient home requires expensive architect design or means compromising on looks and amenity.
The result is a modest, contemporary home that is highly energy efficient, filled with natural light, is well ventilated, incorporates modern lighting and appliances and most importantly would be a great place to live.
Located in Schofields, in Sydney’s north-west, the CSR House has been modelled in 23 different climate regions to show how robust the design performance would be, anywhere in Australia. Integrating a range of innovative CSR products, it is a bricks-and-mortar approach to educating designers, builders, tradespeople about sustainable approaches to construction.
As well as a display home, CSR House is a live research lab where continuous monitoring and experimentation will help the industry better understand building science and deliver even more affordable, high performance homes.
Come and see for yourself – just a 45 minute drive from North Sydney and less than an hour from the CBD.
